Symbion Clinical Research Imaging Centre

The Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute and Mayne have formed a unique collaboration to bring state of the art technology to researchers, radiologists and clinicians.

The Symbion Clinical Research Imaging Centre is found within the Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute and is the site of a 3 Tesla MRI machine. Researchers at the Institute, using this advanced technology, can track the structure and the moment to moment activity of the brain enhancing their research capabilities.

The 3 Tesla MRI machine can perform a number of varied brain examinations including routine brain, gadolinium contrast enhanced imaging for lesion detection, pituitary, acoustic nerve, the effect of stroke on the brain, grey and white matter evaluations and demyelination investigation.

In addition, the centre offers advanced techniques such as spectroscopy, functional MRI, perfusion and fibre tracking measurements.

This MRI is open to all groups interested in clinical imaging and cooperative research projects.
